As the eldest child, I used to help my mum folding clothes at night, while watching tv, mostly private drama (drama swasta) at that time. My mum only let me did the small pieces, mine or siblings’. But I love to fold kain sarung because it was the damn easiest thing to fold. It’s just a rectangle piece of cloth. Anyway, however best I thought of my work, mum kept refold them again. Huhu.
Now and since the day I started boarding school, I have to do my own laundry, from washing to folding. I had to admit at that time, I was not very good at everything. What do you expect, thirteen years old girls to do all those thing, we were no domestic queens. We used to play with the air sabun adalah. Making balloons between our fingers. Haha.
But we dreaded gotong royong. Yuck. We couldn’t keep that bathroom, washroom clean everytime. There must be something, or someone who seemed having problem keeping up with the cleanliness. Hmm. The only day to find the washroom in good condition was on Saturday because there would be an inspection on that day.
By inspection, I mean we have to stand hand holding the poll of the bed, and watching out, whose sheet is the crispiest and tightest, maybe. And waiting for Ustazah to come and check, bed and our locker too. Huh. Then we were willing to just sit on the floor rather than sleeping on the bed, in order to keep the sheet crisp all day long, Saturday. In addition to that, that day was also meant for fingernails checking. The Ustazah, our warden at that time will do the checking from one hand to another. What a work!
I was rambling anyway. I just want to share that I spent about one hour, folding 20 pieces of clothing. Because I was so easily distracted by the internet, tivi and food and drinks. Huhu.
I wasted time. And now I have to sleep! Gudnite!!!
